Fiat has been on the move, launching the Fiat 500 Hatchback and revealing the Cabrio at the New York Auto Show. We’ve been moving and shaking along with them, as they take a creative approach to marketing the vehicle, allowing consumers to touch and interact with the vehicle in completely new and eclectic ways. We debuted a Kinect-powered giant mosaic for Fiat at the North American International Auto Show. Then we did it again at The FADER FORT by FIAT, complimented with a Windows 7 Digital Kaleidoscope. Now those big digital installations have made their way to the big city courtesy of Vectorform’s Karl Steckling, Kevin Foreman and Frances Calandra.

South by Southwest wrapping up. The FADER FORT by FIAT coming down. We came, we saw, we conquered Austin, Texas — and have a SXSWi award for the shelf.

Business 2 Community on Foursquare Playground, Vectorform’s busy month

“SXSW has been an exciting — albeit busy — time for global design and technology firm Vectorform. Not only did they take home the SXSW Award in Technical Achievement on Tuesday night for their involvement with the AP Timeline Reader, but they’ve also teamed up with some major brand names (think Foursquare, Microsoft, and Fiat’s brand agency, Impatto) to provide users a cutting edge experience.” Renee DeCoskey hits the nail on the head, and goes in-depth on our HTML5 experience, Foursquare Playground, over at Business 2 Community.

Check it out, and while there, we also recommend B2C’s coverage of Foursquare’s growth from six to seven million users, all between January and February of this year. With Foursquare Playground officially open for business, it will be interesting to see what March and April bring.

As for our work with Foursquare, Microsoft and Fiat/Impatto, it is a busy and exciting time. Our next SXSW spotlight hits on a Fiat brand experience, and the continued efforts of the Vectorform squad in Austin, Texas, so stay tuned here.

More digital, more video, more Vectorform firepower @ SXSW

As you may have heard, The AP Timeline Reader we created in HTML5 for The Associated Press, is up for an award for technical achievement, but we’ve had a few surprises brewing for South By Southwest. Today we will debut Foursquare Playground and turn a social network of text and images into a stylish isometric perspective–to celebrate the release of IE9, and foursquare’s (awesome) new API. Later in the week we will unveil our latest brand experience for the Fiat 500 at the world-famous FADER FORT by FIAT, to let car and music lovers blend brand assets, FADER media, and user generated content into one of the world’s largest vision-based interactive mosaics, using a Kinect sensor and motion sensing technologies with Windows 7.

At the 2011 North American International Auto Show the future of Fiat came to life with a large-scale motion-controlled digital mosaic. Along with Fiat’s brand agency Impatto, we celebrated the debut of the Fiat 500 with one of the world’s largest vision-based Natural User Interfaces.
